Elbrus, along with the other eight five-thousanders of the Greater Caucasus, attracts the attention of climbers from all over the world and is distinguished by the fact that there are routes to its peaks that do not require too high qualifications of climbers. But the summit of Elbrus does not lose its significance due to its greatest absolute height over the entire space of Europe and Russia - from Portugal to Kamchatka.
Elbrus is not difficult from the standpoint of modern sport mountaineering. Many paths lead to its peaks and all of them are relatively simple. The main difficulties and possible surprises during the ascent are cracks in glaciers hidden by snow, low temperatures, strong winds and the exhausting effect of altitude.
